About Our President
Lonnie Trelenberg is the current President of The ESL Group and the Founder. Lonnie is part of the driving force behind The ESL Group. As a certified “A” class FSR electrician with over two decades of experience, Lonnie brings unmatched expertise to electrical solutions in British Columbia.
He holds the prestigious Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Certification in Project Management, and his career spans Northern BC, Alberta, and now Vancouver Island, along with Okanagan and the Lower Mainland.
Throughout his career, Lonnie has led teams on large-scale commercial, industrial, and residential electrical projects, gaining extensive experience in data networks, fire alarm systems, HVAC, PLCs, and lighting control systems.
His leadership in managing complex electrical projects earned him three consecutive VRCA Construction Awards of Excellence (2016-2018), further solidifying his reputation for excellence in the electrical industry.
About Our Regional Managers
With our Divisions on Vancouver Island and in the Okanagan, each of those teams is led by our amazing regional managers, Scott Smith and Kyle Whieldon.
Scott Smith – a Red Seal Electrician with FSR B certification and over two decades of experience. Scott’s experience extends far back, working with a variety of electrical companies across British Columbia.
Scott and Lonnie have been friends for over a decade and have worked alongside each other throughout their careers. It was in 2023 that Scott joined The ESL Group as Vancouver Island’s Regional Manager, opening up the division in May of 2023.
Kyle Whieldon – a Red Seal Electrician with FSR B certification and 14+ years of experience. Kyle is our Okanagan Division’s Regional Manager and is the General Manager of 1&2 Electric Ltd., an electrical contracting company located in Vernon, BC, that joined forces with The ESL Group in early 2025.
